Social value
Driving positive change
From neighbourhood projects to national initiatives, charities and causes play a vital role in strengthening communities and driving positive change. We’re committed to supporting the communities we serve, backing initiatives that create real impact, locally and nationally.
Tackling homelessness in Manchester
Panda is proud to support the partnership that’s making the Embassy Village in Manchester a reality. Launched in 2019, Embassy has already transformed lives through shared housing, resettlement support, and employment opportunities. The Embassy Village will take this even further, giving residents the chance to live independently, build financial stability, and move on to permanent accommodation without relying on council housing or benefits. Together with Capital & Centric, Peel L&P, Vermont Construction, and many others, Panda is proud to contribute to this ground-breaking project in the heart of the city by supplying 40 cost-neutral skips to support construction. We’re excited to see Embassy Village completed and to continue supporting this innovative approach to ending homelessness.
This £4.5m pioneering project will provide
40

Supporting the spaces that support our communities
Strong, connected communities are vital for a sustainable future. We’re committed to supporting local initiatives that enhance wellbeing, create connections, and contribute to long-term positive impacts. Panda took part in the ‘Big Dig’ Project at Swinnow Community Centre to help transform their outdoor grounds into a welcoming safe space for the community.
Swinnow Community Centre is a volunteer-led centre at the heart of the local area. Open seven days a week, it offers a wide range of activities from toddler groups and lunch clubs to advice services and a community food cupboard. A vital local space that supports social connections and offers access to basic needs for residents.
Working alongside Caddick Construction Limited and Wilmott Dixon, we were able to transform the space by tackling everything from weeding and cutting back overgrown shrubbery, to painting fences and planting flowers and herbs.
Donating our time, and a skip, are small actions, but they have transformed the area into a space where the community can now gather, play and connect.
Celebrating unsung hospital heroes
We’re proud to celebrate the incredible commitment of those who keep our healthcare system running seamlessly, day and night. Our UK Sales Director, Graeme Knight, recently had the honour of presenting the Estates & Facilities University Hospitals of Liverpool Group (UHLG) Team of the Year Award at the Royal Liverpool Hospital. The award was given to the outstanding Royal Domestic Team; a group whose work often takes place behind the scenes but is essential to patient care and hospital operations. Operating 24/7, responding to ever-changing demands, and always ready to go the extra mile, their dedication reflects the core values we uphold at Panda: reliability, resilience, and a commitment to service excellence. In addition to the awards ceremony, we also attended recognition events across Aintree Hospital, the Women’s Hospital, and Royal Liverpool Hospital, where we witnessed firsthand the vital contribution of Estates and Facilities teams across the Trust. A huge congratulations to the Royal Domestic Team on this well-earned recognition. Your work makes a real and lasting difference every single day.
Environmental impact
We believe that Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) represent the foundations for any responsible business, and that they create a pathway to a circular economy.
We are committed to achieving net-zero emissions by 2040, and have a comprehensive plan in place to help us reach this milestone. We're also dedicated to circularity and resource recovery, to enhancing our processing capacity, and to maximising the value we recover from waste.
-
Reduce our own carbon footprint
We’re committed to cutting our carbon footprint, targeting Net Zero by 2040 with a 42% reduction by 2030. In 2024 alone, we reduced our carbon intensity per tonne of waste handled by around 5%, with independent third-party verification of our Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions.
-
Boosting renewable energy sources
In 2024, we generated 71,890 MWh of renewable electricity through solar, biomass, and landfill gas projects – that’s 39% more than we consumed. With more solar capacity in the pipeline, we’re helping to power homes and businesses while supporting the transition to a low-carbon, circular economy.
-
Decarbonise our 1200 vehicle fleet
Our fleet is one of our biggest opportunities to cut emissions. In 2024, we expanded our low-carbon fleet to include electric HGVs, CNG-powered vehicles, and hybrid company cars. We also invested in a new fuelling infrastructure. By 2030, our goal is for all our new vehicles to run on low- or zero-carbon fuels.
-
Governance
Strong governance is at the heart of how we work. It reflects our promise to act responsibly and with integrity; for our clients, our communities, and everyone who depends on us.
-
A future-proof ESG framework
We can help strengthen your ESG strategy with reporting solutions and analysis that are consistent, reliable, and totally transparent. We’re aligned with international frameworks like the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS) and Global Reporting Initiative (GRI). So, we’re well prepared for the EU’s Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive that comes into force in 2028. And that means you are too.
-
Transparency and trust
From expanding our internal audit programme to enhancing risk management and whistleblowing procedures, we’re continually raising the bar. These measures strengthen transparency, accountability, and trust across every part of our business.
